Kanoni
Description
Kanoni is an area near the center of Corfu, at a 2 km driving distance from the Corfu airport. It was named after a canon that was placed at the edge of its peninsula by the French during their dominion on the island (1978) and it’s still there today. Kanoni is very popular with locals and visitors for its view over the Mouse Island, or Pontikonisi as the locals call it, the Vlacherna Monastery, and the airport. Surrounding Kanoni excavations have revealed Palaiopolis, the ancient town of Corfu (dated since the 8th century BC), and therefore the area also raises historic interest to the visitors. In Kanoni you can find luxurious hotels, cafes and restaurants overlooking the spectacular view.
