North Rhodes Full Day
Description
One of the most iconic spots in Rhodes, Seven Springs (Epta Piges) offers a lush, green paradise, a true oasis of coolness even during the hottest summer days. Located in a Natura 2000 protected area, it promises a serene experience where nature takes center stage. The waters from the seven springs flow continuously throughout the year, forming a small lake, which is maintained by a dam built by the Italians to supply fresh water to the nearby village of Kolymbia. For the more adventurous, there’s the option to walk through a narrow, dark tunnel, 186 meters long, with water flowing at ankle-height, creating a unique experience for those who dare. Alternatively, a peaceful walking path above the tunnel leads you comfortably to the lake, offering a calm and scenic route. Whether you choose the adventure or the serene path, it's an experience that immerses you in the island's natural beauty.
From the refreshing embrace of Seven Springs, we move on to the elegance of Kallithea Springs, another gem of Rhodes. Known for its beautiful architecture and historical significance, Kallithea Springs, designed by the renowned architect Pietro Lombardi in 1928, blends perfectly with its natural surroundings. The Springs were beautifully restored in 2007, and today they serve as a place of cultural significance and relaxation. The graceful, circular design reflects the royal aura of the place, which led to the attendance of King Vittorio Emanuele of Italy during the opening ceremony in 1929. The Springs are open from May to October, offering an ideal spot for visitors to unwind while surrounded by history and breathtaking beauty.
The journey through Rhodes doesn't stop there. As you continue your exploration, the Old Town of Rhodes awaits. Stepping through the medieval walls of the Old Town is like entering another world, where history and tradition come alive. Surrounded by impressive fortifications and seven gates, the Old Town offers a fascinating glimpse into the island's past. The cobblestone streets, charming shops, tavernas, and museums provide a magical atmosphere, transporting you back in time. Walking along the Street of the Knights, you’ll reach the grand Palace of the Grand Master, one of the most remarkable castles in the Dodecanese. Inside, you’ll find a wealth of medieval relics, ancient sculptures, and beautiful mosaics from the 1st century, offering a deep dive into the island's rich history.
This tour of Rhodes brings together nature, culture, and history in a seamless journey through some of the island's most captivating sights. From the refreshing Seven Springs, to the elegant Kallithea Springs, and the medieval wonder of the Old Town, each location offers something unique, making it a perfect way to experience the true essence of the island. Every step is a story, and every view, a masterpiece. Get ready for an unforgettable journey through the heart of Rhodes.
